This Week's Update: Intro, Plan, and Stay Connected!

  My husband Mack and I just closed on our new DeWitt home today! This is exciting for both of us. I love being able to be so close to the schools. This fosters the involvement and investment that are important to both of us. Here's a link to another introduction to me beyond my resume and an overview of my 90 Day Plan . I have spent the last several weeks getting to know district staff and stakeholders and meeting with some community stakeholders as well. The goals of this plan center around developing trust and strengthening relationships, learning about the district and gaining a deeper understanding of it and the people, and connecting with stakeholders. The center of these goals and the plan is all about relationships! Through discovery meetings, I am learning about the points of pride, district challenges, opportunities to explore, and where we would like to see the district five years from now. Introduction to Dr. Shanna Spickard, New Superintendent of DeWitt Public Schools

Dear DeWitt Public Schools Families and Staff: I am both incredibly honored and excited to be named the new Superintendent of Schools for DeWitt Public Schools and team up with the outstanding staff, educators, administration, and Board of Education in serving the district. I have been learning about the district through building visits and stakeholder meetings, and I look forward to serving the district to continue the journey of excellence. I am passionate about life and people. I was raised in a small rural community in Southern Ohio by my hard-working, blue-collar parents who instilled a great work ethic, servant leadership, and determination in me. I am highly motivated and organized, and trust and respect are important to me. My husband, Mack and I, recent empty nesters, are excited to move to DeWitt and be not only involved but invested in the community. Mack works as a compliance director in banking and is a military lifer. He currently serves with the Michigan Army National G
